Push-in ring and ratchet spanners with SE 9x12 fitting for torque wrenches

Push-in ring spanners and ring ratchets are the heads you fit on a torque wrench with an insert connection, to tighten nuts and bolts to a controlled torque. They are used in the automotive sector, machine building and anywhere a joint has to be tightened to specification.

First look at the connection of your torque wrench. Most heads in this category have an SE 9x12 insert connection; other push-on ring spanners have their own connection, such as 22 Z, which only fits the matching torque wrench. Then choose the across-flats size of the nut, from about 12 mm to 46 mm. A fixed push-in ring spanner encloses the nut completely. A switchable push-in ratchet spanner works faster when you do not want to take the spanner off and reposition it each time. Ring spanner bits are a compact alternative.

The heads come from Gedore, Bahco, Wera and Facom. To cover several sizes at once there are insert spanner sets for torque wrenches; angle gauges and crowfoot spanners sit with the wider accessories for torque wrenches.
